Today (7th Jan 2012), both Cambodia and Vietnam commemorate the 33th year since Cambodia’s liberalization from the genocidal regime – Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot. Hundreds of thousands of people gather all over Cambodia to pay respect to the vitcims of the Khmer Rouge regime and also express their heartfelt gratitude to Vietnam and its volunteer army.
To what extent does the younger generation (those born after the late 1980s) of these two countries value the importance of this date? This remains a key question and challenge.
